Kerala Toddy Industry Development Board

The Kerala Toddy Board (KTIDB) is dedicated to the growth, regulation, and sustainability of the toddy industry in Kerala. Our primary focus is to ensure the safe, ethical, and environmentally responsible production of toddy, while preserving the rich cultural heritage associated with this traditional practice. We aim to provide a robust framework for the industry, prioritizing the welfare of toddy tappers, workers, and producers through fair wages, social welfare programs, and skill development initiatives.

At KTIDB, we are committed to fostering innovation and modern practices that improve the quality, efficiency, and sustainability of toddy production. We also focus on promoting Kerala’s iconic toddy both locally and globally, ensuring market expansion and better recognition for this unique product. Mission Statements

  • Regulation and Industry Governance:
    To establish and maintain a comprehensive regulatory framework that ensures the highest standards of quality, safety, and hygiene in toddy production, while adhering to legal and ethical guidelines. This includes monitoring the distribution, sale, and consumption of toddy to ensure consumer safety and industry integrity.

  • Sustainability and Eco-friendly Practices:
    To lead the transformation of the toddy industry into an environmentally responsible sector by promoting sustainable and eco-friendly harvesting practices. The board aims to reduce environmental impact by encouraging practices such as minimizing the use of harmful chemicals, protecting the palm trees, and adopting methods that preserve the natural ecosystem of toddy-producing areas.

  • Worker Empowerment and Social Welfare:
    To improve the living standards and social welfare of toddy tappers, producers, and their families through training, skill development, and access to healthcare. The Board aims to create fair working conditions, ensure just wages, and establish safety nets such as insurance and pensions to secure the financial well-being of workers involved in the industry.

  • Cultural Preservation and Promotion:
    To preserve and celebrate the rich cultural heritage associated with toddy production in Kerala. KTIDB seeks to protect traditional knowledge, practices, and rituals related to toddy tapping, while also fostering awareness and respect for Kerala’s indigenous communities and their contributions to this iconic industry.
